International Meeting Place and Cafeteria

Welcome to our student pub - Lokal International! We are located at the Eichendorffring 111, right amidst the student residence halls of the Eichendorffring. What used to be a refectory for the evenings, called .study affairs., is now an intercultural meeting place: the perfect spot to meet fellow students from the JLU Giessen and other incoming students from abroad, to get together, hang out, have fun and exchange experiences about living and studying in Giessen.

We offer a various programme with regular theme nights during the week and special events on weekends and during the semesters.

Our International Evenings on Fridays are a chance to meet other students and have a real cooking party: International students cook typical dishes from their home countries for everyone to try. On all other days of the week we offer assorted meals for reasonable student prices.

Once a month we offer a family day. Every first Saturday in a month, children and their parents are very welcome! We have a typical German "Kaffeeklatsch" with coffee and cake, which is similar to the English tea time. While mummy and/or daddy are chatting or watching the .sportschau. on a big screen, children can play inside or outside of the Lokal International, e.g. in a provided sand-pit. On Saturdays the Lokal International is open from 3:30 pm - 7:30pm.

Every Tuesday from 5 to 7 pm and Thursdays from 2 to 4 pm, our student mentors assist you with your academic work, papers and presentations, written assignments and general coursework. Just stop by if you like our skilled and experienced mentors to have a look.

And, by the way, the Lokal International is a place of exchange, so please contribute! Just approach someone from the staff with your ideas and be part of the programme!
