A service for programme students in the winter semester

For whom?

The Pick-up service is only for programme students in Gießen who plan on living in one of our student housing complexes.

The Pick-up service is only offered in the winter semester. The exact period of time will be announced in advance in combination with the reservation confirmation.

What?

We offer you the opportunity to be picked up and taken to your new residence on your arrival in Gießen!

Arriving late? No problem!

We will pick you up even if your planned arrival falls outside of the office hours of the Studentenwerk Gießen! This offer stands for those who arrive between the hours of 8:00am - 3:00pm and from 6:00pm - 10:00pm.

If you are planning to arrive a few weeks before the beginning of the semester, and would like to have the option to be driven to your housing, please contact our housing department at the following e-mail address:

Let us know your anticipated arrival date and time, and your phone number. We will contact you!

Upon your arrival you will simply need to go to our hall of residence .Otto-Eger-Heim. (near the Gießen main train station) and meet with the arranged Studentenwerk Gießen-employee. After paying your first month.s rent and your security deposit . both in cash -, you will be given your housing contract and room keys, and then you will be taken directly to your accomodation!

How do I reach the residence hall Otto-Eger-Heim from the train station?

The residence hall Otto-Eger-Heim is quite near the main train station of Gießen, in the Leihgesterner Weg.

by foot: Firstly, you must pass over the railroad tracks using the raised railroad crossing located across from the train station entrance (you should see a staircase leading upwards). Then you will follow Friedrichstraße until you reach Röntgenstraße. Turn into the Röntgenstraße and follow it until you arrive at the Ludwigstraße, Röntgenstraße and Leihgesterner Weg intersection. On the corner you should see the residence hall Otto-Eger-Heim (a yellow building).

with taxi: If, however, you do not or cannot walk to Leihgesterner Weg, maybe you have a great deal of luggage and are exhausted from your travels, you can always take a taxi to Otto-Eger-Heim. You will find taxis lined up right outside of the train station, waiting to take you to your desired destination.
